About Abby Platts

​Always keen to pursue further knowledge of her profession, Abby completed a Masters in the Theory of Podiatric Surgery in 2009 ultimately leading to her winning a Trust award for her academic achievements.

Abby has previously spoken at the Diabetes UK seminar and has also published work in Wounds UK focusing on photographing mapping foot deformity.

Very much a team player who highly values her colleagues Abby was delighted to receive a Trust prize for colleague of the year; nominated by her colleagues!

When Abby is not working she is socialising with friends and family, enjoys cooking, walking and has ambitions to walk all 282 of the Scottish Munros (only another 279 to go then!). Abby’s extensive collection of shoes is tribute to her love of all things feet!

Qualifications
Abby qualified from Huddersfield University with a Podiatry degree in 2007 and has pursued her clinical career in the York NHS Podiatry Department.

Abby completed a Masters in the Theory of Podiatric Surgery in 2009 ultimately leading to her winning a Trust award for her academic achievements.

Prior to her Podiatry career Abby was a nurse specialising in cardiology, graduating in 2003 from Northumbria University.

She gained a wealth of experience during her nursing career working on various medical wards including cardiology, respiratory, haematology and neurology wards.

Fields of Focus
In recent years she has worked as an advanced podiatrist providing her with a wide scope of practice and depth of knowledge. With extensive experience Abby has worked alongside vascular, orthopaedic and diabetologist consultants as part of the foot multidisciplinary team treating the ‘At risk foot’.
